Bye winter!

Winter seems to be officially over, here in the North of Europe. Still , I am pretty sure that we will have some snow coming until May, because, as is said in here : " You know that it is summer because snows less...":)
So to thank the lovely winter we had, I am going to share some moments of the white wonder with you.

EL invierno parece que va llegando a su fin , aquí en el Norte. Aún así estoy segura que volverá a nevar varias veces hasta finales de Mayo. Como se dice por estos lares: " Sabes que es verano porque nieva poco." :)
En honor a este precioso invierno que hemos tenido, voy a compartir algunos de los momentos blancos de esta temporada.
El invierno que viene subir a Finlandia, os  encantará.

El Cálculo de la Soledad

Durante el 2015 he estado inmersa en un proyecto muy interesante, intenso y de alguna forma revelador, que me ha llevado a probar mis límites y mi condición como ilustradora.
El escritor español David Gambarte ( con el que, si recordaréis, tuve el placer de colaborar con la portada de su libro, " Cuentos expatriados"), me volvió a sugerir la idea de una colaboración.
Ésta vez sería dándole imagen a una serie de poemas en el que David llevaba trabajando durante un tiempo. El proyecto sería a través de un mecenazgo que la editorial Libros.com lleva a cabo.

Los poemas requerían un cambio de estilo radical en lo que a mis ilustraciones se refiere. Así que me basé en el sentimiento que ciertos poemas dejaron sobre mí tras leerlos. Basándome en fotografías mías y con un proceso dónde lo digital y lo manual han ido codo con codo, os presento el resultado de éste trabajo. Son fotoIlustraciones, y espero que os gusten!

8 hours in Copenhagen with kids

Copenhagen is one of the the cities that i like a lot, as many of you know already.
This year, coming back to Helsinki, we decided to make stop in this beautiful city for few hours, and have a quick taste of it during the winter season.

We arrived in the noon, stayed over night, and next day, have our 8 hour tour with kids in Copenhagen.

As we were staying quite close to the old town and the weather was cold and snowy, we plan a walked that will provide a warm shelter every now and then. So we head to the Round Tower, and the Botanic Garden. From there, we took metro to the center ( the day ticket is great to move around the city, and also to go back to the Airport), walked around Frederiksberg and Vesterbro. Quick stop in center to get new socks for everyone ( as kids had soaked shoes :/) and the one thing that kids loved was the Lego Store, which is paradise for them.

May in Helsinki

This is a comeback! yes, I have been busy, and I need to catch up with my blog. From today I will keep the updates running!

I want to get back with a lovely family reportage that I shoot last May in Helsinki outskirts.

May can be a great time to get family portraits outside already. This year we had even better weather that now, in July. So I am aiming to all of you to book your pictures in location also during the springtime here in the North.

This day was just great, after the photoshoot we had a proper spring storm and almost get back home soaked but was perfect timing!

I leave here a short resume of the day. Marisol´s family is just a blast! lively kids, very funny, and nature lovers!

Introducing Gabriela

Beautiful winter mom Paola , introduce me to Gabriela last March. She was tiny, cute and very hungry little girl.
We had a shooting for Gabriela just after her tenth day.
She was quite awake during the session, but was really easy and mellow.
I felt in love with the colorful scarf that Paola had, and we used it as a prop.
Noticing myself that in the baby pictures I am liking more and more to document first the day of the mom and baby, then get some poses...more natural and fun. And always with natural light.
Looking forwards for the next baby shoot!

Photography workshop February 2015, Helsinki.

During February I have been hosting a photography workshop in Helsinki. There, the students have learned how to use a DLSR camera in the Manual mode, and forget for ever the automatic mode.
We went through the technical part, where everything from Shutter speed to ISO was taking care of, understanding the lenses of the cameras was a big deal too.
During the last day we built our own pinhole camera.
The workshop had also a practice time every day.
This was actually my first time ever hosting a course-workshop, but the feedback has been great, and I think the group was absolutely fantastic!, From here I Thank to everyone of you that have been part of it.

The building of the Pinhole camera and the improvised darkroom, was a very nice challenge to understand how light travels and the cameras work.

Great experience and great group, i am very happy! More workshops to come very soon!
